Kender Street Art

I like these pictures on the hoardings around the building site on the corner of Kender Street, New Cross.

Better still, is it true they're building a new library there (among other things)? Possibly even one that has more than a handful of books and opens a bit more often than the current one in New Cross.

Of course the number of books on display in a library doesn't really tell you anything - other than you might have to wait a bit to get the book you like.

True, but I was disappointed when the new Peckham library opened a few years ago. I had this fantasy that in a building of that size there might even be more than one floor of books, but alas no.

On the subject of street art, public art and murals in new cross and deptford area, check out: www.artmongers.com - they have recently opened a new mural called Fabric of Society (http://www.artmongers.com/events.html) at the Orange Cafe, using images from fabrics dear to the locals.

Actually the library isn't being built on this site, but there is planned to be one round the corner in Besson Street.
